Week 23 Report: July 3 – 6

Prepared by Anthony Mulanzia

We had all students reporting to school on this week. Majority of the students reported to school on the first day from the mid-term break. A number of students in were still absent. Many of those who were absent had traveled upcountry and were facing difficulty getting transportation back to Nairobi. By the end of the week all the children had reported to school. We are grateful to the parents for their continued commitment towards the education of their children.

During the week we had two students (Reagan Onyango and Rose Akoya) reporting to school consistently past 10.00am. The class teacher has since spoken to their parents and we hope this will improve next week.

Curriculum

After settling down, teachers reviewed with the students the examination that they had done before the midterm break. They also took time to review their lesson plans taking into account the examination results. Different play activities and games were also held during this week than usual. This helps the children settle back into the school routine after being away for a week.

Administration

The Director installed swings, seesaw and a merry-go-road in the play area.  Children were able to use these new facilities on Friday during games session. The friday session was very exciting for the children.

The was able to install a toilet for use by staff members. This improvement was greatly appreciated by teachers who now do not have to share the same toilet facilities with children.

A new staff member joined HoL. Eunice Wanjiku will be working part time with the school as the Accounts Assistant.
